Afternoon Tea

For the Afternoon Tea session, I was asked to design a flyer to advertise the event. Using my new Wacom Bamboo graphics tablet (an early Christmas present) I produced this illustration based on a cup of tea I once had. The poster went down really well, and I hope to do more of these in the future!

Big Apple

My dear friend Ben (who I'll be travelling to Israel with) is often inspired by music to create his illustrations. This one of Paloma Faith portrays her song New York, and he sent it to her last year sometime. Now she's keen for him to design her merchandise! So great and well deserved, I can't wait to see it!

Vegetable Fiend

How cool are these? They're by illustrator Claudia Pearson, originally from London but lives in New York. I think the style is fab, and the colours, and the idea of visual recipes. Also that a chance meeting with someone can whisk you across the pond and life continues there!

The Chair

So after almost a year of researching, designing and making, I have my final creation. On Thursday is the crit for the module, so I'll be presenting the chair to panel and being questioned on it! To go along with it have designed a poster, and here is the illustration for it. The book Naive has some really great inspiration, especially Spikepress, and I always love Ben's work too. So in the next couple of days I'll be posting my presentation set up and a picture of the chair itself!

Laaandaaan

Maybe it's because I'm a Londoner, that I love London so! I came across this wonderful paper cut (top) by Familie Summerbelle via gypsy*diaries. Not unreasonable for a print either, this will nicely pop on my birthday wishlist! Also I love the style of Blancha Gomez (below)! They both also come in Paris and New York.

Winter Wishlist: Item Five

I saw this Draw More t-shirt by Rose Blake in the Barbican yesterday as I was passing through. Wish I had bought it there and then! The one I saw was a white t-shirt and as a design student I just feel that the drawing utensils are so relevant. Her illustrations are great, such a distinctive style.

I can't wait to make it and see how it'll come out!

I was SO happy to receive a first edition illustration from Ben, it is beautiful! Will frame it and keep it forever, specially when he's famous!!
