Just Incredible

I've raved about Maddie before, but I shall rave about her again. She is incredible, she makes me chuckle out loud AND she has a book coming out. If anyone would like to buy my something in April 2013, the book is it! (FYI!!)

Now & Then

A few of these concepts have popped up in recent times but I love the idea of rediscovering the locations of days past. Using vintage photos, is it difficult to find the original locations I wonder?

Oz Oz Oz

The last two books I have read are to do with Australia. A Town Like Alice gave a really interesting insight into the life in the outback after WWII and so following that I decided to read Down Under by one of my favourites, Bill Bryson. I have to be careful not to laugh out loud on the train when I read one of his. I came across on Flickr the State Library of New South Wales collection, showing photographs of life during the gold rush, cattle and sheep farming as well as more urban life in the 20th Century.

Hill House

I'm tidying up my computer, the past year's work has clogged it up and now new work is to begin. I found this image, I don't know where it's from, but it's great. Vaguely architectural and so relevant to the next step in my education - the world of work!

Surprise Snaps

Ok, so, our house isn't the tidiest on the planet, but sometimes this isn't such a bad thing. A disposible camera has been sitting on the hi-fi for... apparently years, because when I got home I found it with a few snaps left on it. I took the little thing on a couple of summer expeditions and just had it developed.

Most of the photos were from my brother's prize giving 5 years ago - oh, how we've changed!! I especially loved how the pictures came out from the last couple of weeks, you can't beat the raw, point-and-shoot style. Digital is great, but manual can be full of surprises.

Last Days of Summer

Monday became Tuesday, August became September, and Summer most definitely turned into Autumn. The days of crisp, blue skied mornings have arrived; I love Autumn.To remind us of summer, this is a photo of(l-r) my greatgrandmother Jessie, my daddad Jim, my nanna Eileen and my greatgrandfather Maurice. It looks like such a traditional seaside shot, as though it could have been anyone's family. My cousin Kate and I have been getting together photos and memories for our dads' 60th party, and this is just one of a selection she has sent me!

Sixty

This year we have some big celebrations in my family. On Thursday it is my maternal grandparents' 60th wedding anniversary and in September it is my Dad's and uncle's 60th birthday! Through the creation of cards and invitations, these gorgeous photos have come my way...
