Neutral Garb

I'm very much enjoying the neutral tones of these outfits here. Recently I did purchase the tan leather Chelsea boots and a navy pea coat, which sets me off nicely, but one can never have too many knits. I'm a magpie for wool - I think it's my obsession!

Men's Clothes

Lucy and I reconvened in the Northern Quarter for lunch on Saturday and on the way to an art shop, our eyes were caught by a lovely wooly hat! In Oi Polloi they sell menswear though the man inside assured us girls could wear them too. The hat's by Howlin' by Morrison, knitted in Ireland. I'd like one for the winter approaching!

Lucy Rose

After seeing recommendation on my news feed, I had a listen to the music of Lucy Rose. She has a great voice; soft like Laura Marling, another of my favourites. Check out her music here and videos here.

I've also popped this image onto my Style pinboard on Pinterest. I resisted to join so far, but it's just such a great idea and will be so helpful to group together ideas and inspiration when I start back studying architecture in a few weeks!

In Love

We walked into the shop and fell in love. I have read alot about Anthropologie on many blogs, so when Emma and I wandered in to the Regent Street store yesterday, I was expecting something good. But not that good! I could have bought everything! With it's green wall and hanging chairs, alongside the beautiful clothes and quirky crockery, it was all so pleasing to the eye. I splashed out on the jumper, and Emma bought me the plate as a uni present (now what shall I do in return!) 

A very dangerous place is Anthropologie. Bank account - watch out!

Sixties Seventies

Wear Colour

I don't understand how the weather in July can be so miserable! To counteract it we should all embraces brightness and wear a lot of colour and maybe the sun will follow suit...

Long Skirts

I love all these mid length skirts for summer, but looks like I'm going to have pull them off with a pair of heels... wedges are needed me thinks!

The Classics

When it comes to novels, I like them at least 40 years old. It's a form of escapism, reading about love and lust two centuries ago, or even how life was so different just sixty years ago. I guess there's a reason why they're called classics. Timeless. I like these t-shirts as with all the editions that have been published, there is such a variety of cover art to be seen.

Black Dress

The Uniform Project was carried out by a New Yorker who wore the same black dress every day for a year, accessorizing it with allsorts and not buying a single new item. This year 12 women are challenging themselves to wear the dress every day for a month. It's all sponsored to raise money for children in India. Maybe this could be a New Year's resolution for me?

Jazzy Jumper

One of my favourite blogs to frequent once in a while is Copenhagen Street Style, so it was interesting this morning to see this girl wearing a jumper similar to the one I am hoping to create!

We've had big news in the hen house- our first egg!! It was found lying in the run yesterday (they obviously haven't quite caught on to the idea of the "nesting box" - we'll give them time) but we didn't expect to get one after just a week! They've all got such characters: Polly (the featherless one, which I named) is the most confident and will come up and say hello, and peck Puck when he threatens to bark. The other two are still unsure and shy, but we can easily tell the difference as Henrietta's crown flops to the left and Mrs Thatcher's to the right! (geddit?!)

Today I'm going to a mini-festival in Surrey called MATTfest started by a uni friend - called Matt - and raising money for charity, should be fun!

Fair Isle

I inherited a hilarious 1983 knitting book from my great aunt. I can't even begin to explain the make up and hair-do's. Utter magic. Having a flick through I though I would have a go at knitting one of the less questionable designs, a timeless fair-isle. I haven't knitted for a while but had a go at a small section and it turned out alright, so now I'm going for it!

I came across the Color Collective blog and thought using one of the images to get colour imspiration was a great idea. I picked this bottom image, checked out the wools I can get, and then transferred them onto the pattern. I have enought needles to last me a life time so I just need to go get the wool and then the cardi will be on its way...

Yellow Sheep

I am on a computer all day at work, so when I jump on the train or tube I really relish the opportunity to get out a book. I haven't read a novel since devouring the Twilight series last summer. This year I have returned to my love for the classics - I read The Great Gatsby, and am currently speeding through Jane Eyre. It's the first time I've read it, though this adaptation was on TV a few years ago, and you can grab it for a bargain here. I can vaguely remember the outline, but I'm so keen to get through the book, I get it out of my bag!

Even so when I'm home I jump back online and this fantastic cardigan, which I will purchase at the soonest possibility, I discovered whilst 'blog hopping'. PaperTissue is great for pretty images (shame about the adverts) and I came across this Style Scrapbook image of a mustard coloured cardigan! I have been searching for one since I spotted this snap. Many items of attire are being bought at the moment, but it's all in aid of my "work wardrobe"!

Retro Patterns

Today Mother Dowle and I went shopping. Now I haven't been shopping properly in a while, but I had the aim of getting a dress to wear to graudation - mission accomplished! There are so many cute patterns out at the mo, so I had to get snapping on my phone, hence the bad quality.
The first is my grad dress from Oasis, then a top I spotted yesterday in Cath Kidston and had to get (though the sleeves need a bit of adaptation - nothing I can't fix!) and the last a French Connection dress or top which I didn't get but loved the pattern of (...and I've just discovered this jumpsuit - wow).

Tonight I'm popping up to London for dinner for a friend's birthday and then we're heading to a salsa bar - I love salsa and can't wait!

Saturday Shoppers

On Saturday we went shopping in London. We had lunch in Busaba, on Bird Street next to Selfridge's, and it was delicious. I'd describe it as a Thai version of Wagamama's! We also headed over to Brick Lane to have a look at American Apparel rummage store (here's my bros footage of the riot the day before there which was used by the BBC!) but there wasn't anything I wanted there. Instead we had a wander round the indoor markets! I bought a cute vintage skirt!

Mug Cake

Sunday afternoons are always full of procrastination. I just told Lauren how to make a cake in a mug, and hers came out so much more tastier than mine did the other day. Teamed with raspberry Bonne Maman jam and a chai tea latte, it's a delicious afternoon treat!

4 tablespoons flour
4 tablespoons sugar
1 egg
3 tablespoons milk
3 tablespoons oil
all mixed together in a mug and then
3 minutes in the microwave

VOILA!
I feel all creative on Sundays and I've been inspired to make some summer dresses like this one by Hanna at kiddet. Must get out the needle and thread!

Bargain Hunt

This weekend the East End Thrift Store is having a jumble sale - you grab a bag and fill it with as much as you can/want and pay £10 for a medium or £20 for a large bag. It sounds like such a good idea! Shame I won't be in London this weekend, but if I was I would definitely be there! Maybe I'll make a cheeky visit!

Wide not Skinny

I bought a pair of wide leg trouser at Esprit in the sales just after Christmas, thought it was a bit of a mission because most shops are still into skinnies. From The Satorialist, I think this girl's outfit is great. A few days later in the Sunday Times Style magazine, Trend Watch: Wide-leg trousers... maybe there are less skinnies on the cards!

Allotment Vegetables

Howies are an organic clothing company and I have a few of their quirky t-shirts but on my current vegetable whim, I would love this one!
