Woodland Oasis

Last night I watched Mastercrafts, a new series on BBC about traditional crafts - catch it on iplayer! This week was wood craft which I have always been fascinated with, probably since our trip to Canada and seeing the totem poles there. The apprentices on the programme were learning here, and at night the open air workshop under a canopy looked absolutely idilic. Wouldn't it be great for a summer party?!

Oh Canada

I went to Vancouver back in 2003 supporting my then 11 year old brother on a rugby tour. I remember being handed out Vancouver Winter Olympics 2010 pin badges, thinking how long away it is... and now we're there. How time flies.
Something struck a cord with me in Canada, it's the most beautiful place I have visited. I've only been once, yet I would love to go again. I am absolutely fascinated by the culture and art of the First Nations. When I was in Washington DC on a school trip we visited the American Museum of Native Indians, and above is once of the beautiful carvings. In Gastown in Vancouver itself is Hill's Native Art which sells an abundance of creations.
