Brrrr in Berlin

It had been six years since my last trip to Berlin, and this one was to celebrate a few milestones: Dan's big 3-0, his becoming an architect, and us putting up with each other for the past 3 years! We arrived on a Thursday lunchtime to the realisation that minus temperatures had also just turned up too. Never to be put off by bitter winds we started a jam packed weekend of tourism: warming up with Gluhwein at the Christmas markets in Gendarmenmarkt and Charlottenburg Schloss, brunch in the rotating restaurant of the Fernsehturm, winding our way up the Reichstag dome, visiting the Checkpoint Charlie museum, exploring the tombs of the Holocaust Memorial, checking out the stall at the Mauerpark flea market, walking along the wall and seeing the great architecture and exhibits of the Neues Museum. It's incredible to believe that the history of this city is still so young and from what we hear it's an ambitious city where people think you can do anything.

Air Bed

Since a friend at work told me about it, I have become slightly obsessed with AirBnB. You can find some amazing places to stay for holidays in so many countries and cities around the world. Top is in Montreal and bottom in Canada. You can rent rooms, entire flats, or even whole islands! Have a look and a day dream at the same time...

Cee Gee

My friend Christina is heading on an expedition this summer with Raleigh International to Costa Rica to provide communities in extreme poverty with basic amenities. Being the creative girl that she is, Christina has designed a beautiful collection of jewellery inspired by Costa Rica's jungle bridges and volcano to raise money for the trip. To make a purchase of her limited edition jewellery, visit her online shop here or simply to make a donation, here! What an experience she's going to have - good luck XtinaG!

Move Places

Another day, another video. Fiona showed me this yesterday and I can't say anything more than it is SO good. The places depicted and the slick interchange makes it a great short film.

Light Show

On my first night in Strasbourg we lay down on the cobbles and watched the light display on the cathedral. It's a gothic beauty, enhanced even more by the light display. At the weekend I went to my cousin's band's gig at a festival called Rock am Wald in Eggenstein, near Karlsruhe and had a great time rocking out with the Germans!

Train Travel

Brother Dowle is currently inter-railing around Eastern Europe. He flew into Budapest and has since been to Sarajevo and is now in Mostar, Bosnia Herzegovnia where he snapped this. To me it seems like these places are so unlikely to be visited, but from what I have now seen they are beautiful and I would love to go myself. He's keeping us update on Twitter here.

Camp Inside

Berlin is one of my favourite cities and if I go anytime soon for a visit I'd definitely stay here at the Hüttenpalast. You get to stay in an caravan instead of a room!

Style Influence

When I'm having my hair cut I always take a picture of this lady because she's always had such a cute short crop. I love the colours in this image; the clashing patterns of her outfit. I've never seen an image of her on The Sartorialist wearing heels which is another reason as to why for me Eva Fontanelli is a style influence!
