Fifteen Flowers

Keeping up with this journal of mine has taken a backseat for most of 2015. It has been quite a year, for many reasons good and bad, but I have still been keeping up with snapping away images from everyday life and posting on good ol' Instagram. Here is a selection of fifteen flowers, from gift bouquets to those in our garden, flora in London squares to fields of lavender, from artwork to textiles. From now on, there'll be more of my photos and what I've been getting up to, so stayed tuned!

Columbian Flowers

Hyacinth are my favourites at the moment, their distinctive scent and how I remember them potted in Nanna and Pop's kitchen when I was little. I bought this beautiful mixed bunch, which is further blooming in front of me with lilac and fuschia petals, from Columbia Road Flower Market on Sunday morning. This little street in East London was teaming with people, flourishing with colour and smells of herbs. Not one of us five girls can profess a horticultural expertise but there was so much to be tempted by and a lot of new names of varieties to be learned. I picked up some basil, coriander and parsley to add to the herb garden, and Jess bought daisy-like argyranthemum and kindly gave me a pot too! And the flowers are just one part of the draw of Columbia Road - there's a wealth of little shops I've yet to explore, so will definitely be back and perhaps even earlier next time to avoid the crowds.

Bed Time

A couple of weeks ago I pinned the top image and I keep coming back to it. There's something about all the colours and patterns, flowers and stripes. The next bed just makes you want to jump on it! Bed time for me too!

Prune Conserve

Today we popped along to the car boot sale at Epsom Hospital where Ben Smithers was selling his childhood for a bargain. I was enticed into buying an old Kodak camera for £1, which I've given to Brother Dowle to add to his collection, and bought these sweet jars of homemade jams. It's such a beautiful day, fingers crossed that it'll last for my last week at work!

The Big Day

What an incredibly wedding it was! I watched the arrivals and the service with friends and family and to this moment can't believe how beautiful the day was, especially the bride! What a dress! We had a barbeque in the afternoon and across the country (and the world) so many people were celebrating in different ways. I love the official wedding portrait and here is the British Monarchy Flickr page. So now one more day off, and then back to normality...

Easter Eggs

I love Easter as a time for a big meal with the family, sitting chatting, doing crosswords, having elbow nudges from the dog, playing with the chickens and enjoying the sun. I love long weekends, and especially having two (thanks Wills and Kate!)

There's the warmth of summer in the air but a fresh breeze in these photographs taken by Mark Borthwick for LyricsM, a clothes brand in Japan. I think that images are magical, especially because of my love for wild flowers.
